Kinesio Taping®
Dr. Hughes has been using Kinesio Taping® for over five years as an adjunct to the other therapies he provides. He has gotten remarkable results using it in combination with other modalities of treatment for soft tissue injuries.
For more than 25 years, Kinesio Taping® has been breaking new ground in the fields of sports performance, pain management and physical therapy. There has been an increased use of Kinesio Taping® in professional sports in recent years. Many professional athletes and Olympic athletes rely on Kinesio Taping® to keep them in the game.
The Kinesio Taping® method is designed to facilitate the body‘s natural healing process, while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body‘s range of motion. The tape has a texture and elasticity very close to living human skin. It is used to successfully treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and medical conditions. Both Kinesio® Tape along with a training protocol have shown results that would have been unheard of using older methods and materials.
In cases of injury or overuse, the muscle loses its elasticity. The tape possesses the proper degree of elasticity, and lifts the skin microscopically. This stimulates the underlying muscle neurologically, and it helps to drain excessive fluid from inflammation. Its unique properties are based on a study of kinesiology.
Kinesio® Tape is used to
- Re-educate the neuromuscular system
- Reduce pain
- Enhance performance
- Prevent injury
- Promote improved circulation and healing
Dr. Hughes is the one of the few providers in the Huntington area that is currently using Kinesio Taping® methods.
